The problem
A household shares shopping and costs, but individual notes and chat messages do not always tell everyone what is still needed or who paid. Some records also need to remain personal rather than shared.
How we approached it
- Use a shared household list so members can contribute to the same shopping task.
- Record expenses with the person who paid, alongside household activity.
- Let people choose personal visibility for expenses and reminders where appropriate.
- Provide an explicit at-the-market status instead of reading the person’s location.
