A note before you rely on this
This document reflects how the casealert app handles data, but it is not legal advice. Please have it reviewed by a qualified professional for compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP) and any Bar Council obligations before you rely on it.
Who we are
casealert (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a case-tracking service for advocates practising before India's district courts. It reads publicly available case status from the eCourts services of the Government of India and sends hearing-date alerts over WhatsApp to the advocate and, where the advocate chooses, to their clients.
The app is operated by Nexotri, a sole proprietorship of Ms. Pooja Patil, of Kolhapur, Maharashtra 416113, India (Udyam registration UDYAM-MH-15-0316683). For anything in this policy, contact us at support@nexotri.com.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to two groups of people:
- Advocates who create an account and use the app to track cases.
- Clients and other recipients whose name and mobile number an advocate adds to a case so that they receive plain-language hearing alerts.
Because an advocate decides which cases to track and which clients to alert, that advocate directs how their clients' information is used within the app. See Section 07.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Advocate account: your mobile number (used to sign you in and to send you alerts) and your name.
- Recipients you add: the name and mobile number of each client or contact you attach to a case, and whether they should receive the full case detail or a simple update.
Court case information
When you open a case, the app loads the official eCourts website inside the app on your own connection and captures the case record for the cases you choose to track — the CNR number, parties, case type and numbers, hearing dates, stage, court, and order-sheet text. This information originates from public court records maintained by the eCourts services.
Choosing a contact
Contacts permission
When you add a client from your phone's contacts, the app opens your phone's own contact picker and receives only the single contact you tap. The app does not read, upload, or store your address book, and it holds no contacts permission of its own.
Payment information
Paid subscriptions are processed by Razorpay. Your card or UPI details are entered into Razorpay's secure systems — we never see or store your full card number. We keep a record that a payment was made, the plan, and the amount.
Technical information
We keep minimal server logs needed to run and secure the service (for example, request times and error information). Login codes and session tokens are stored only in a hashed (irreversible) form.
How we use information
- To send hearing-date alerts and reminders to you and to the clients you have chosen to notify.
- To sign you in — instead of a password, the app opens WhatsApp with a one-time code and you send it to our business number; WhatsApp tells us which number it came from.
- To track the cases you add and show their status, history and orders.
- To process subscription payments and manage your plan.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
WhatsApp messages
Alerts are delivered through the WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta) from our business number. To send a message, we share the recipient's mobile number and the message content with Meta so it can be delivered. Meta processes this under its own terms. Recipients can stop receiving messages by asking their advocate to remove them, or by blocking the number in WhatsApp.
Automated, one-way alerts
Alert messages are automated. If you reply to one, your message reaches the Nexotri team’s inbox, where it is read during working hours (Monday to Saturday, 10:00–19:00 IST) and kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, as described in the Nexotri privacy policy. Questions about a case should still go to the advocate directly, as our messages state.
The advocate's responsibility
When an advocate adds a client's name and number to receive alerts, the advocate is responsible for having a proper basis to contact that person about their case, and for the accuracy of the details entered. The app acts on the advocate's instructions in handling their clients' information. If you are a client and want to stop receiving alerts, please contact your advocate, who can remove you; you may also contact us using the details below.
How long we keep data
We keep case and account information for as long as the advocate's account is active and the case is being tracked, so that alerts can continue. When a case is removed or an account is closed, we delete or anonymise the associated personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records (for example, payment records) to meet legal or accounting obligations. Login codes expire within minutes; session tokens are kept only in hashed form.
Routine database backups have a 14-day retention target, with daily cleanup and at least three recovery copies retained. If backup jobs fail, those minimum copies can be older. Restricted deployment-recovery snapshots expire after 30 days and are removed at the next daily cleanup. Account deletion does not immediately erase backup copies; they remain restricted to recovery use until rotation.
How we protect data
- All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
- We use no passwords — you sign in by sending us a one-time code on WhatsApp from your own number, and codes and tokens are stored hashed.
- Access to the server and database is restricted to authorised administrators.
No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct or update inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law.
- Raise a grievance about how your information is handled.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will respond within the time the law requires.
Children
The app is intended for practising advocates and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child's information has reached us, contact us and we will remove it.
Where data is stored
Our servers and database are hosted in a data centre operated by our cloud provider. Some service providers we rely on (such as Meta and Razorpay) may process information on infrastructure located outside India in the course of delivering their service. Where information is transferred, we rely on those providers' safeguards and applicable legal protections.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
